Hello readers! I like to rant about consumerism, but guess what!? I do buy stuff, and today’s the day that I share about some of my recent purchases and my fall / winter wardrobe as I succumb to the reality of colder weather setting in ♡
The seasons may have officially turned back in September, but here in Wisconsin, this past weekend is when fall *officially* arrived, with gusty winds, steely skies and temps in the low 50’s. I knew it was coming, and have been slowly preparing my wardrobe for the shift, including making a fun new mushroom-patterned skirt this weekend!1
Tangentially-related ~ my 7th grader had this song on her Autumn playlist and how have I never heard it before??
Back on track now.
As much I as talk about thrifting and trying to reduce my purchases, the reality of the world is this:
The ability to wear the same clothes for decades on end is a privilege only those with never-changing bodies can experience. For those of us who sit back and watch in wonder and awe as our bodies flow and change shape over time, new clothes are required on a much more regular basis and “timeless” purchases aren’t worth the cost given that time renders them unwearable. Bodies change, and for most of us, wardrobes have to as well.
Today’s newsletter is about the clothes I have found for this season of the year, season of my body and season of my almost-44-year-old life. Clothes and shoes that don’t make me writhe in discomfort, can withstand a full day of library work (standing, walking, deep crouching, stairs, etc), and are affordable on my public education salary.
