Hello readers! It’s time for another monthly release newsletter ~ yay! I may not have read ahead into October, but I have a great list of books I’m excited about. I also have some great fall reading lists and guides from other amazing bookish creators for you. Remember that the Saturday edition of this publication is always available for all readers ~ I am so happy you have welcomed me into your inbox ♡
Before we dive into bookish content for the day, I really must point you toward an album that I have been VERY eagerly anticipating:
YOU GUYS. I was THERE. I was AT WRIGLEY FIELD for this show. Do you know what that means? Essentially, my daughter, friend and I are BACKUP SINGERS on this album. Ha! Seriously, though, this was such a fun show and having a whole album to commemorate the occasion is wonderful!
Ahhhhh, finally temps below 85! This has been a HOT September in Wisconsin, and last Sunday was the first day I could actually cuddle up in a sweatshirt and quilt to read outside in the morning1. So often our weather here switches from summer to winter overnight, so I’m grateful for a little transitional weather right now! I was able to attend two soccer games this week and go apple picking yesterday with the 7th grader and her friends and just enjoy the outdoors without sweating profusely or freezing ~ what a novelty2!
Did you catch the big release on Tuesday??? If you are a romance reader, or even just WANT to be a romance reader, definitely make sure you take a look at my massive Falling for Romance collection! Or maybe you just KNOW a romance reader? Go ahead and share the link with them ♡
While my own big fall release isn’t *actually* fall related, just aesthetically fall-themed, some of my favorite creators have released some amazing fall reading guides and lists recently!
Some of these collections are focused on books releasing this season, while others are seasonally-themed, but all are wonderful.

And one more recent piece that has nothing to do with books, but speaks to my soul: What if We All Underconsumed This Autumn Season by
. The only seasonal *thing* I buy in autumn is candles, and I feel good about that purchase each season because candles truly help me experience the shift in weather, vibes, etc. I make sure my fall-ish quilts are out, and if we grow pumpkins, I’ll put those out, but that’s it!Also, I’m late to the party in chiming in about this, but I love what this piece from Esquire has to say about advance copies of books ~ do give it a read.3
With all its hype and early praise from the chosen few who get a copy, the book becomes a token of cultural currency, a status symbol. These books, hot in the hands of celebrities and Internet personalities alike, prove just how susceptible we are to clever marketing, and just how hungry people are to be in the know among the literary elite. These status galleys often turn into best sellers once they actually hit shelves, but one has to wonder: Are the books even that good? And, perhaps more important, do readers care? ~ Esquire

October 2024 Releases on My Radar
Guess what!? I didn’t read ahead into October at all4, BUT I did still create a collection on Bookshop.org5 of all of the releases that I have on my radar for this month. Please head on over to take a look if you want a visual feast of all of the bountiful goodness that October 2024 shall bring book lovers!
There are 32 books on the list ~ pretty impressive for a month in which my book notebook had as many Christmas titles than non-seasonal titles! I’m such a visual shopper when it comes to books and I wanted to provide you with an easy (pretty) way to see all the covers AND be able to click through for descriptions and release dates. Enjoy!
Please note that this collection is not an inclusive list of all October 2024 releases ~ it just includes the titles that I actually want to read and will seek copies of in the future. Also, I did NOT include any of the Christmas-themed books releasing this month that I am excited about ~ those will be shared in a future exclusive collection for paid supporters.
→ Remember that if you are not in a position to purchase any of these books, you can request that your public library purchase them! Often the person who requests the purchase gets to be the first to read when they arrive ☺
Have you read any of these books? Have any of them on your TBR? Let me know!
Don’t forget ~ all of these great September reads are available now!
That’s all for this week ~ thanks for reading!
I love to hear from readers, so please do reach out to me with questions or feedback at mindfullibrarian@substack.com . If we aren’t already connected on Goodreads, I would love to see you there as well!
Yes, that’s a pumpkin donut with cream cheese frosting and yes, it was amazing.
an *annual* novelty, of course. Midwesterners are great about being surprised every time the seasons change!
I have a digital advance copy of Intermezzo on my Kindle. I haven’t read it yet.
Remember that big project that just released on Tuesday? And the new school year? I’ll catch up with these reads leisurely in the future!
If you purchase a book from my Bookshop.org collection, I will earn a tiny commission. I shall not become rich from you shopping from my collection, but I merely used the platform to create an easy way for you to see and learn about all the titles in one visually appealing place that supports independent bookstores ☺
The first two links (“collection” and “head on over”) both go to September. The “view the October collection” goes to October. Just fyi! Love your selections and have bookmarked a few. :)
Lots of great October reads to look forward to! Thanks for the shout out and for sharing that Esquire article, I'm not even sure I'll read Intermezzo but it's been interesting to see the marketing machine turn that into a status book
