Hello readers! It’s time for another monthly release newsletter ~ yay! I may not have read ahead into November, but I have a great list of books I’m excited about. Remember that the Saturday edition of this publication is always available for all readers ~ I am so happy you have welcomed me into your inbox ♡
Today’s newsletter is another scattered one ~ it was a very full week in my life1, and yesterday I was on the road for a conference in Madison about ensuring schools are safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ youth. This is a topic near and dear to my heart and I’m so happy my principal and district paid for me to go!
A quick word on programming here over the next week or so. In the US, there is a high level of political anxiety right now, and I have been working incredibly hard to manage this for myself. With that being said, I know that when I am feeling anxious, I still like reading about comforting things that have nothing to do with the topic I am worried about. That means I still plan to share bookish content for those of you needing a comforting distraction. If you manage your political anxiety by only reading about that topic, I look forward to seeing you again when things calm down ♡
I voted for Harris via mail last month, my friends ~ I trust you all have a plan to vote on Tuesday or have already voted! Local readers ~ I also voted NO on the Wisconsin constitutional amendment. If you need help finding your polling place, please use this tool to do so ~ there’s still time to make a voting plan! Need to research your ballot? Here you go!
If you’re looking for some reading to soothe your frazzled nerves, here are some wonderful recent pieces from some of my very favorite newsletters:
ways to feel less terrible from
31 non-self-destructive ways to deal with stress and anxious feelings from
9 books that feel like Nora Ephron films from
Unrelated, but equally relaxing ~ if you want to know the absolute perfect. bait. to get me to donate to a fundraising drive…… this magnet made me throw money at them so fast. If there were a t-shirt? ALL MY RICHES.
Would you like even more chatty musings on midlife, even more book recommendations, and exclusive downloads and book collections delivered right to your inbox each week? These are all benefits of a paid subscription to this newsletter ~ please do consider becoming a supporter!
November 2024 Releases on My Radar
Guess what!? I didn’t read ahead into November at all, BUT I did yet again create a collection on Bookshop.org2 of all of the releases that I have on my radar for this month. Please head on over to take a look if you want a preview of the titles I’m excited about.
November is usually a slower publishing month, and I’m guessing the election made it even slower this year. Still, there are 20+ books releasing that look more than worth a shot! I’m such a visual shopper when it comes to books and I wanted to provide you with an easy (pretty) way to see all the covers AND be able to click through for descriptions and release dates. Enjoy!
Please note that this collection is not an inclusive list of all November 2024 releases ~ it just includes the titles that I actually want to read and will seek copies of in the future. Also, I did NOT include any of the Christmas-themed books releasing this month that I am excited about ~ those will be shared in a future exclusive collection for paid supporters.
→ Remember that if you are not in a position to purchase any of these books, you can request that your public library purchase them! Often the person who requests the purchase gets to be the first to read when they arrive ☺
Have you read any of these books? Have any of them on your TBR? Let me know!
Don’t forget ~ all of my anticipated October reads are available now!
That’s all for this week ~ thanks for reading!
I love to hear from readers, so please do reach out to me with questions or feedback at mindfullibrarian@substack.com . If we aren’t already connected on Goodreads, I would love to see you there as well!
play performances! choir concert! I turned 44! My library was 81 degrees for most of the week and I couldn’t think straight! Halloween!
If you purchase a book from my Bookshop.org collection, I will earn a tiny commission. I shall not become rich from you shopping from my collection, but I merely used the platform to create an easy way for you to see and learn about all the titles in one visually appealing place that supports independent bookstores ☺
Even though Nov is slower for publishing, there are still some really great books I'm looking forward to -- especially Sophie Cousens! It doesn't get much more cozy than her writing.
I am here for the bookish, comforting distraction. Thank you Katy!
