This edition of the stacks brings you my personal happy place and a new way I’m expanding my reading horizons by being both purposeful and random with my book choices.
But first, did you see what I released on Wednesday????
Okay, back to the scheduled programming ………..
For those of you new to my world, you must know that open water is my happy place, and paddleboarding is my very favorite way to enjoy it. I almost got out for the first time this year during our brief heat wave on Easter weekend, but I was nervous about going out solo when the water temp was still so low. I then had to wait out the April blizzard, second big melt, and continuing freezing temps until …… I was FINALLY able to hit the lake last Sunday!
We live out in the country far from pretty much everything, but I’m so grateful to have a little lake in the nearest town, which is only 15 minutes away. That’s CLOSE for us! I get out as often as possible from May - October, usually super early in the morning to avoid fast boats and my nemesis WIND. I wrote this winter about my new toy for indoor balance training (I stand on the flat side) and I think maybe it worked? My arms definitely aren’t sore, so maybe all that paddling with a dumbbell actually paid off ~ and I didn’t fall off, so I guess the balance work did something, unless my muscle memory is just stellar. Here’s to many, many hours out on the water this summer!
My inflatable iRocker Nautical is a CHAMP and I really can’t recommend it highly enough. The electric pump works great with the outlet in the back of my Subaru ~ this accessory is a must, in my opinion. We also have the kayak conversion kits, which my husband, daughter and friends love. We have two of the boards and really want to add a few more so we can go out with more friends and family. I love the backpack bags that the boards pack up into too ~ I use one to haul accessories, paddles, lifejackets, etc even on long hikes down to water.
Expanding My Reading
In the past few weeks, I implemented two strategies for ensuring that I read outside of my whims and new release tunnel vision. I’m sharing one of these with you today, and will be sharing the other soonish!
