This edition of the stacks brings you a life update, some August releases I have read and loved, and my August book notebook pages ~ settle in with your beverage of choice to peruse the list!

it’s so wonderful to be back on the homestead with the pups again!

This week has been a LOT of mom and youngest kid time ~ the oldest is still adventuring and the guys left right away last Saturday morning for Milwaukee for a weekend Brewers trip. Also, the middle is at sports and work pretty much full time this summer and he doesn’t share many interests with the almost-6th grader.

I took L and a friend to the county fair last Saturday night and we did school supply shopping on Sunday, just the two of us, which was a treat ~ no rushing or focusing on anyone else, just us! On Monday, we ventured out to the Barbie movie ~ my verdict is it’s hilarious for the right audience, but I never once felt the urge to cry as others have. The rest of the week brought pool time, lots of reading and naps, and my lifelong best friend’s arrival in town! We have a weekend of fun planned ~ I can’t wait.

August Releases

August has SO MANY amazing books that I am excited about, and I’m definitely sensing fall coming with the heavier and more magical reads. Three of the August releases I read would be perfect for October if you like magic in your stories, but prefer it to be more on the realistic side vs outright witches and warlocks.

And then watch out, because CHRISTMAS books start being released in September!! I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to try to read any of those early or not ~ the past few years I waited until late November to read Christmas books, but then got quickly sick of them. Maybe starting earlier and spreading them out is the key? We shall see!
