Hello readers!
Remember a few weeks ago when I shared my Autumn Reading Reflection bonus download?
I create these reflection pieces and share them here because this is a process that I believe deeply in during this phase of my reading life. It may be because I now know, in my 40’s, just how quickly the years pass and how easy it is to mindlessly slip from year to year. The same goes with my reading ~ it’s so easy to just mindlessly slip from one book to another, either following the trends, or just picking up whatever is sitting near us. Those periods of reading, for me, are the least memorable periods. The books I read like this tend to frustrate me or leave me unsatisfied, and given how relatively few books we get to read in our lifetime, this breaks my heart!
Quarterly(ish) or seasonal reflections can really help us add some intentionality into our reading lives, with the complete flexibility to change course if we want to. I mean, when we’re the ones making the plan, there’s no reason we can’t change it! But the act of MAKING the plan is the point. Sitting down and thinking about these questions gives us time to slow down, reflect on the past, and ponder what we want for the future.
Today, I’m sharing parts of my answers to the prompts for this season ~ September to November ~ that will help you get to know me better as a reader, and help you understand just how simple the process can be. Remember, responses can be one word, a short list, or a phrase or two. There’s no “right” way to do this!
